Picture
Child sitting on fender of 1935 Plymouth. Date unknown. Note Delta Tau Delta emblem on windshield. There were no cross-streets in those days. There was a side "street" that curved off from 26th Avenue and went south to some houses down yonder, but the main thoroughfare was Friendly Street.
Picture
Picture of my father at right, me in doorway, and three relatives and friends on the roof. Caption on reverse gives date as December 1937 and names the people and lists the address as you know it today.
Picture
This picture of our parents, taken about 1939, probably in our front yard, shows the hill and one neighbor's house (I think there were two neighbors up the hill at that time).
Picture
...still under construction, and the date is given as Summer 1940.
Picture
Denny in wagon, February 1941. Shows neighbors toward Friendly Street side.
Picture
Shows me on my first bike. May 1941. I can't quite tell whether I'm riding up or down the hill.
Picture
Shows house and me June 1942. The front porch is now complete, and you can see the house number over my shoulder.
Picture
Looking west down 26th Avenue from near the intersection with Madison Street. December 1942. That's Gramps on the stilts and Denny watching. Friendly street in the distant background.
Picture
Dad's bird dog on the hill at the end of West 26th Avenue. Picture taken before 1945. Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) steel water tower in background.
