City of Eugene $3943.57 (includes 4 color October newsletter printing) NLC (Neighborhood Leaders Council) Carlos. No NLC in December. State of the Neighborhood address sounds like a good idea. Tuesday, August 3, National Night Out scheduled. NEIC (Neighborhood Empowerment Initiative) Bernie reports zilch. Meetings start again in January. ENI was to have their annual meeting in November Bernie and Carlos said they had gotten word that it was postponed. We need to check with ENI and give them and update on who our representatives are. NIEGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC CALMING AND SAFETY (Nancy Ellen Locke). COMMUNICATIONS (newsletter and website) (Andrew Fisher, Mike Giroux, Amy Henne). Deadline is December 29th for submission of articles.
Newsletter will be published in January, April, July and October during 2010.

SIDEWALK INFILL. (Carlos) Continue to look for other donors and labor. Still a work in progress. OLD BUSINESS JANUARY GENERAL MEETING set for Thursday, January 21st at Washington Park. City Manager Jon Ruiz is scheduled to come. Lisa Arkin of the Oregon Toxic Alliance will present the possibility of a pesticide-free Washington Park. Lorna Baldwin from the city will present the ramifications of such a park. Amy and NEL will take care of refreshments. APRIL GENERAL MEETING. STATE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Paul Holvey, Pete Sorenson, Neighborhood Survey results. FAN Board voting policy discussion. Bernie handed out the Friendly Area Neighbors Board Voting Policy that was passed on October 13, 2008. NEW BUSINESS POLK TRAFFIC CALMING PROJECT -- Discussion of letter to Tom Larsen. NEL gave some background about the Polk Street traffic-calming project. City is looking at abandoning Polk Street traffic calming project. NEL has written a letter to the City. Draft letter was sent to Board via email for review. Board approves that the letter can go forward. Greg moves to accept. Andrew seconds. Approved unanimously. Bernie reports dangerous situations on both 23rd going over the hill (from Lawrence to Olive), 24th between Jefferson and Friendly. Not wide enough for people to park on both sides of the street. Thinks we should ask the City to remove parking from Madison to Friendly on 24th. NEL makes motion to write a letter to the City requesting a safety review of 24th between Jefferson and Friendly. Greg seconds. NEL and Bernie will work on letter SNAP discussion. Its not a snap. It has no teeth. Refinement plans had teeth. Why should neighborhoods be involved or interested? Adjourned 9 pm.
